A Boring Win (Thank God)
By: Rob | October 8th, 2007
How dull was the Reading-Derby match this weekend? For a while, I thought even Match of the Day wasn’t going to bother to show highlights. But boring is good, I’ll take boring, coming as it did on the heels of a little 11-goal match you might of heard about.
From what I could glean from MOTD2’s obligatory couple minutes of highlights and internet stats, Reading pretty much dominated play, and would’ve had more goals had the ref not decided to allow handballs for an afternoon. Good to see Kevin Doyle open his season account at long last…but in the future, try to avoid celebrations that suggest a furry fetish, Kev. With Dave Kitson also getting into form, we could come back from international break with a recharged offense and a fit SONKO bolstering the central defense.
And hey, we’re in 12th place! Second worst goal differential in the league, but that happens when you suffer a couple 3-0 losses and your run-of-the-mill 7-4 defeat. Eight teams below us, not a bad cushion given how arduous this first quarter of the season has been.
Not much else in the news inbox right now, but I plan on using the club-free fortnight to do a couple more general posts. In the meantime, enjoy reading about Reading’s eating habits. Steamplicity!
