23rd out of 24, and the game involving both.

By: Ben | August 18th, 2009

Well.
Not much to post on the match front. We suffered a pretty inevitable defeat on Saturday, I just wasn’t expecting such a goal margin. Some may say 3-0 at St. James’ isn’t too bad, and well, I kinda agree to be honest. Newcastle’s team would always be stronger and more experienced than any Reading could put out and this was plain to be seen in the match, and with the fans behind them not much was looking in our favour.

Points to note;
- Smith should’ve been sent off in the 24th minute after a second horrendous tackle.
- Jailhouse bitch Joey Barton should’ve followed after a Barton special late tackle.
- Shane Long was pulled up for one of the lightest and most unintentional of touches on Colloccini (and would’ve scored for it).
- I’m glad to see Tabb back in the team.
- The defence need to start communicating (see Ameobi goal 2)
- We need another striker.
- …And should buy Betrand permanently.

Overall, it was a poor result, but again, it’s early days and the team effort wasn’t to blame. Hey, one thing the Royals can take from the game is at least we don’t have a real gay yellow kit…ahem…
Tonight we head off to the Liberty Stadium to face the only team lower in the League than us, Swansea.

Full report on that game later.

Ta!
