Weekend round-up
By: Ben | January 25th, 2009
So we may not be spending this weekend watching the Royals fighting against Arsenal in the Cup…(fortunately, some may say), but it seems some credit is due to 15th place Blackpool, after their 10-man squad repelled Birmingham, thus throwing away the Blues’ game in hand, which leaves Reading still in second position going into the midweek fixtures.
However, this joy may be short-lasted as we face League leaders Wolves at the Mad Stad on Tuesday night, unquestionably a tough game. But Birmingham too may be overpowered by the recently impressive Derby, something which is not out of reach of Nigel Clough’s managerial abilities.
I’ll post more specifics closer to the time, but it seems that youngster Julian Kelly will get his first team debut on Tuesday to fill Rosenior’s absent position, and what a debut it’ll be; the two top placing teams clashing at his home ground which is, don’t forget, expected to reach maximum capacity after the South ‘Away’ Stand was opened to home fans.
So let’s look forward to what theoretically is playing out to be a great game. A mirror score of September’s 3-0 win wouldn’t go amiss either

Julian Kelly couldn’t hope for a better debut challenge from Jarvis and Kightly swapping wings, that with Reid thrown into the mix, three of the fastest, trick filled and creative players in the league…he better have the legs for it.
